I don't like the Photomatix interdace, never have, but I have to admit that it is the best for deghosting. Aurora HDR (Skylum has dropped the ‘2019’ in the name now) can create dense, wild and dramatic HDR effects, natural-looking images, and anything in between, and with out the artificial glow effects and other artefacts that plague other HDR tools. Yes, I said before that Photomatix had been knocked off its perch. Skylum listened carefully to their users and acted on their feedback to improve Skylum significantly, in time to release Aurora HDR 2018. However, there were a fair few flaws in this first edition. I'm able to get free digital copies of Digital Camera World Magazine via my library in the UK and it appears that the latest (February 2019) version of the magazine is offering a free copy of Aurora HDR 2018. HDR (High Dynamic Range) typically refers to blending together multiple exposures to either recreate what the eye can see in a particular scene or to produce a more dramatic end result. Just a heads up for anyone that might be interested. But even as it stands now, it is so superior to photomatix it leaves photomatix in the dust like a hardening, old forgotten turd.Ĭongrats to the Skylum team for creating what will eventually be a giant killer. Yes, aurora has a bug or two and certainly needs a little polishing and UI changes. Aurora HDR is photographic software & High Dynamic Range image editing and processing tool for Windows & Mac OS X that comes with features such as smart structure, etc. Last night I did them with aurora and out of the box (default) it produced stunning images. At least the software now does, what it is supposed to do. That has changed my mind entirely on Aurora HDR. On the right there is you can see the new Aurora HDR 2018 merge and not only, does it not have the nasty halos, it also does a very clean and nice merge. Like this it even can be used when you goal is not really a HDR picture, as Aurora allows you just to add a single exposure as input. Merge exposure bracketed photos to something decent. They were shot (bracketed) wrong and over the years I have tried various version of photomatix, oloneo, adobe products, and even luminosity masking and have not been happy with the results.
